True North Builders is founded on a family tradition, now in its fifth generation.

Our tradition began with George Zechariah Pickrel (1872-1964),

who passed his experience on to his son LeRoy Pickrel (1896-1977),

who in turn passed it on to his son Donald Pickrel,

who tutored his son, Craig Pickrel, the president of True North Builders.

Craig Pickrel graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management in 1973. Upon Craig's graduation, he and his father, Don, formed Pickrel Construction, Inc. This partnership lasted until 1990. During that time, Pickrel Construction, Inc. provided commercial and residential work throughout Colorado.

Taking a Different Path

After years of running his own construction business, Craig's tutoring began anew. In 1990, he went to work for a leading national home builder. He was hired by the regional President, a former high school classmate at Littleton High School where they played football together and both graduated from Colorado State University with degrees in Construction Management. Craig worked with this home builder for 10 years and completed his tenure there having run the entire construction operation.

Putting Experience to Work in a New Way

In 2000, Craig and his wife, Jacki, founded True North Builders. Their focus has remained on residential construction, building custom homes and award-winning renovations, along with small commercial projects.

Focusing on High Performance Homes and Buildings

Today, True North Builders is a member of the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver (HBA), the HBA Remodelers Council and an A+ accredited member of the Denver Better Business Bureau (BBB). We're also an active participant in the building movement known as high performance construction, which advocates using specific techniques and products that result in high-performance homes and buildings.

The focus of this movement is to take the construction of new and remodeled homes beyond great floor plans and beautiful interior finishes to homes that structurally address comfort, durability, safety, air quality and energy efficiency.

True North Builders continues its heritage. The fifth generation, Craig and Jacki's daughters and son-in-law, are taking leadership roles in the company's future. True North Builders has built its future on our past- our experience, our family ties, our professional relationships and a commitment to building it right the first time-values that will serve our clients now and into the future.
